Selecting the Capstone Product

Day 26 of 30 · The Playbook 2026 – Masterclass for Designers

Pick a live product to apply the Playbook for real.

Learning Goal

  • Selection criteria: availability, business priority, stakeholder support.
  • Define scope (screens, platforms).
  • Set owners and timeline.
  • Fix the criteria and be prepared to apply.

Why This Matters

  • Without a real product the Playbook stays theory.
  • Priority gives focus and buy-in.
  • Scope controls risk.

Examples

Bad: “We’ll see.”

Good: Dashboard + mobile web, 6 key screens, 4 weeks, PM/Dev/Design owners.

Guided Exercise

  1. List 3 candidate products and score them.
  2. Pick one, define scope (screen list).
  3. Set timeline and owners.
  4. Get stakeholder sign-off.

Independent Exercise

Record the decision in the Playbook intro and share with the team.

Self-Check

  • Product + scope chosen.
  • Owners and timeline set.
  • Stakeholder buy-in secured.
