Brainstorming and idea expansion (without rambling)

Day 16 of 30 · 30 Days of AI

Generate options, then converge with filters

Learning goal

  • Run an expand → cluster → select loop.
  • Produce 5–10 ideas and narrow to 3.

Why it matters

  • Unstructured brainstorming produces noise.
  • Filters keep only feasible ideas.

Explanation

  • Prompt 1 (expand): “List 10 ideas for X; keep them specific.”
  • Prompt 2 (cluster): “Group by theme; label each cluster.”
  • Prompt 3 (select): “Pick top 3 based on criteria A/B/C; explain why.”

Examples

  • Good: 10 ideas → 3 clusters → 3 picks with reasons.
  • Poor: endless list, no selection.

  • Guided exercise (10–15 min)

    1. Run expand/cluster/select for a real topic.
    2. Write the selection criteria (budget/time/impact).

    Independent exercise (5–10 min)

Ask for 2 risks/assumptions for each selected idea.

    Self-check

    • 10 ideas generated.
    • Cluster labels present.
    • Top 3 chosen with reasons and risks.
